Description: A must for bird lovers everywhere, this wonderful weekend event, held in mid-January, is devoted almost entirely to birding. There are so many things to do that you won’t know where to begin! Among the highlights of the weekend are several opportunities to view the amazing sandhill cranes that winter in the Willcox area by the thousands. The weekend also includes lectures, field trips, tours, a banquet, and seminars by experts. You can attend a daylong photography tour, join other beginning birders and learn how to identify common bird species, explore the Dragoon and Chiricahua Mountains, or go on a hawk stalk in Sulpher Springs Valley to spot the more than 15 species of hawks, eagles, and falcons that live there. Advance registration is required for all activities. Fees vary by event.
