1. Napa County Fairgrounds
City: Calistoga, CA
Category: Parks & Recreation
Telephone: (707) 942-5111
Address: 1435 North Oak Street
Description: If you’re going to pick a municipal campground, you could do a lot worse than Calistoga’s. The scenery is great, it’s just a short walk to restaurants and spas, and next door is Mount St. Helena Golf Course (see the Parks and Recreation chapter). There is a 70-space RV park with electrical hookups, another area that can accommodate up to 300 RVs (some with hookups), plus a small grassy area for tents. Restrooms, showers, and propane are available, but campfires are not permitted. Pets are allowed on leashes. The campground is closed from mid-June through mid-July as the grounds are prepared for and cleaned up after the Napa County Fair (see the Festivals and Annual Events chapter).
2. Mount St. Helena Golf Course

Category: Parks & Recreation
Telephone: (707) 942-9966
Address: 1435 North Oak Street
Description: The course itself is modest—nothing special, one might go so far as to say—but Calistoga’s scenic situation, within a horseshoe toss of rugged hills, makes this a fine place to spend a few hours. Play all day for $18 during the week, $24 on weekends (seniors play for a few dollars less). Carts are $15. The nine-hole course is 2759 yards and par 36. Enter the course off Grant Street.
