Address: 55 West St.

Description: When you find that Stafford Motor Speedway has been in existence since 1870, you might scratch your head and think, “Have there been cars for that long?” But it began as a cutting-edge agricultural park, with people from Hartford taking trolleys right to the gate to watch horse racing. Until the end of World War II, Stafford Springs hosted these nonmechanized races, and then adapted to a new age with motor racing. Today, under a new lighting and sound system, you can watch the newly resurfaced 0.5-mile speedway heat up under the tires of cars. The speedway hosts NASCAR’s Whelen All-American Series, Whelen Modified Tour, a Modified Racing Series, ISMA Supermodifieds, NEMA Midgets, and other events like monster truck rallies. Do you feel the need for power and speed? Scratch your itch in Tolland County at Stafford Motor Speedway.
