Description: Where else can you feed a giraffe? The Global Wildlife Center is a 900-acre nonprofit home to more than 3,000 free-roaming animals from all over the world. It’s the largest free-range facility in the country. Zebras, antelope, camels, bison, and other animals have the lay of the land while visitors are “contained” in covered wagons pulled by tractors. During the 90-minute tour, a guide entertains and educates visitors about the different species as well as wildlife preservation. The really fun part, though, comes when the wagon stops and you get to feed the animals.Global Wildlife Center is open daily year-round; always call ahead for wagon tour times and availability. The center is located about one hour north of New Orleans. To get here take I–10 west to the Causeway exit. Take Causeway north and proceed over the Causeway toll bridge to St. Tammany Parish and I–12. Go West on I–12 to exit 47 (Robert exit). Turn right on Highway 445 (north) and proceed for approximately 11 miles to Highway 40 east. Turn right, and the park entrance is 1.5 miles down on the left.
