Description: Maryland’s celebrated art museum houses a permanent collection of more than 100,000 objects, ranging from ancient mosaics to contemporary art pieces. The Cone Collection features the works of Matisse, Picasso, Cezanne, van Gogh, Gauguin, Renoir, and others from the Modernist era, while the New Wing boasts post-1945 artwork, including a gallery of major works by Andy Warhol. The John Russell Pope Building has displays of furniture, decorative arts, paintings, and miniature rooms, while the sculpture gardens boast works by such artists as Rodin and Calder.The museum and tiered sculpture garden are fully wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs are available (lobby welcome desk) free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Sculpture Touch Tours for the blind and visually impaired, sign language interpretation, and selected foreign language interpretation for non-English speakers are available upon request. Hours are Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The museum is closed Monday, Tuesday, New Year’s Day, July 4, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Free parking is available in two lots and metered parking is across the street.On a weekend in mid-March on even years, the BMA has a Contemporary Print Fair where prints, drawings, photographs, and other works on paper from 20 dealers are featured and sold. Lectures are scheduled and you’re invited to the family workshop to make your own prints. There is an admission charge for this event from $12 for BMA members to $30 for a weekend pass for non-members. Students with valid ID are free.
