Description: Floating in Casco Bay just to the south of Yarmouth, Chebeague Island is a treat to visit. It’s the largest of the bay’s isles at 5 miles long and 3 miles wide, and it’s great fun to walk, bicycle, and explore. And, now, to eat. The Island Inn has relatively new owners, and they’ve transformed their dining room into a showplace—white tablecloths, fieldstone fireplace, and all. The menu’s not going to surprise anyone, featuring the expected upscale surf and turf—well, maybe the tapas you wouldn’t expect—but it’s very nicely done. And the whole package—the boat ride, the romantic old inn, the fine fare—makes for a memorable outing.
