Description: Get a bird’s-eye view of the home turf (grass, actually) where the National League’s St. Louis Cardinals play their home games. The new Busch Stadium, which opened its doors in 2006, is a beautiful red brick venue that features an incredible view of the city skyline. Visit the 2006 World Champs’ dugout and the stadium press room, go out onto the warning track, and check out the Redbird Club, Family Pavilion, and one of the party rooms available for rent. Stadium tours are available year-round with the exception of a few major holidays and anytime there’s a day game. Tours depart from Gate 5 at 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. daily.

Description: Take a ride in a helicopter and get a bird’s-eye view of St. Louis. The helipad is actually a barge moored on the Mississippi River, right under the Gateway Arch. There are two tours to choose from: The St. Louis Skyline tour lasts about 5 to 6 minutes and flies over the riverfront and downtown St. Louis, and the Explore St. Louis tour, which lasts about 15 minutes, takes visitors around downtown, the riverfront, out to Forest Park, and then to the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers in nearby St. Charles. Description: These one-hour narrated sightseeing cruises on the Tom Sawyer or Becky Thatcher riverboats on the mighty Mississippi River offer spectacular skyline views, and they’re a great way to cool off on a hot summer day. The paddle wheelers also host special “Blues Cruises,” which feature live music, along with dinner cruises and other special event cruises. Three of the five daily cruises include a National Park Service ranger on board, who provides additional information about the river and its connection to St. Louis. Description: Carriage rides are a great way to see the city, and it gives kids a chance to check out the sights at a slower pace. Most of the carriage drivers have a dog on board as their “co-pilot,” so there’s a natural kinship with the little ones. It’s also a great way to give tired little feet a break and still keep them occupied. The horse-and-buggy tours start from the front of the Hyatt Regency St. Louis Riverfront Hotel at Fourth and Chestnut Streets, as well as on Laclede’s Landing at First and Morgan Streets. Tours are 30 minutes or 60 minutes long.

Description: Located next door to Union Station, Upper Limits offers more than 10,000 square feet of sculpted climbing surfaces for beginners and advanced climbers. The gym offers daily rates, gear rental, and instruction. Visitors can try un-roped climbing—or bouldering—which is done close to the ground and doesn’t require individual instruction, or learn the top-roping method of climbing. Experienced climbers take a belay test to prove they know what they’re doing before participating in activities at the gym, and everyone is required to sign a liability waiver. Kids 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult, and all kids under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian to participate. Open daily.
