Description: Visiting Tingley Beach is a lovely way to get out of the city, within the city. There are three fishing lakes and a model boat pond to float your own boat or “rent” one to test your skills at sailing a miniature yacht—buy tokens inside Tingley Beach Station. You can also rent pedal boats and bicycles in the summer. The beach links into the 16-mile paved Paseo del Bosque bike trail. Or just come to stroll and feed the ducks or relax at the picnic tables. There’s a great statue of Clyde and Carrie Tingley, as part of Albuquerque’s public art program. Clyde Tingley was the governor of New Mexico for whom the beach and other places around Albuquerque are named, including Tingley Stadium at EXPO New Mexico. You can grab a snack at the Tingley Café, and Tingley Beach Outfitters sells fishing licenses, gear, and also Rio Line train tickets when available. You can take your pet on a leash to Tingley Beach. The beach is free and is open seven days, from sunrise to sunset.
