Description: See the actual birthplace of world-renowned poet Walt Whitman. The museum showcases authentic furnishings, letters, manuscripts, and artifacts of the poet. Plan on spending at least an hour or two here. Throughout the year the museum hosts a variety of unique events, from a “Make a Corn Husk Figure” activity for kids to a Victorian tea party that’s more suitable for adults. Poetry readings, contests, and workshops are also held throughout the year for established, up-and-coming, and amateur poets. A museum shop and bookstore can also be found here.
