Description: Planes both small and large land here. The airport can even handle large corporate craft; in fact, Kevin Costner’s big private jet occasionally sets down here. There are two grass strips, one is 4,000 feet and one is 2,000 feet long; one 6,400-foot asphalt strip; two large overnight hangars; and four county hangars with 11 slots each. The airport also has an instrument approach. Fuel, maintenance, and repair services are available (though no food service), and you can even camp on the grounds. Rental cars are available. The airport is 3 miles east of Spearfish. It is managed by Eagle Aviation, which also offers Eagle’s View Air Tours (see listing under Eagle Aviation) and provides aircraft rental, flight instruction, and Cessna service and parts.

Description: Eagle Aviation, which is based at and also manages Black Hills Airport—Clyde Ice Field, offers Eagle’s View Air Tours for two to five people in a Cessna high-wing aircraft (the wings are above the windows for unobstructed views). Fly over gold country (Lead, Deadwood, Spearfish Canyon, and the Homestake mines) or Devils Tower, Mount Rushmore, and Crazy Horse Memorial on 20- to 120-minute tours. Upon request, pilots can fly you over some nearby Wyoming and Montana attractions. Eagle Aviation also has a charter service.
