Description: This oasis on the water is more groomed than wild, but its views of the North Landing River are glorious, and there’s a broad boat ramp where, for $6, you can launch your yacht and set off on the Intracoastal Waterway for the Currituck Sound, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, or points beyond. This 100-acre park also offers an 18-“hole” disc-golf course, three ball fields, three basketball courts, three playgrounds, six volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, canoe and kayak rentals, and plenty of open space for picnics and kite flying. There’s an intimate amphitheater that can be reserved for everything from weddings to classroom instruction. The park opens at 6:30 a.m. and closes at dusk.
