Varuna Boat Club is NOT a restaurant and is NOT open to the public. It is a private, member owned social club and has absolutely NO public access or facilities. Any and all references to violations by the Department of Health of the City of New York are erroneous and do not apply to this establishment. The club has been re-evaluated and no longer falls under the category of restaurant, which it never was. The Varuna Boat Club was established in 1875 as an amateur athletic rowing club and remains true to it's heritage to this day. Applications for membership are welcome, provided the applicant is sponsored by two current members in good standing.
