Star Mountain Trading Company is Silver City's largest and most unique store. We are housed in an old JC Penny's building in the heart of downtown, across the street from a historic theatre. We sell whatever appeals to us on any given day, but our staple products include, American Indian arts and crafts, custom jewelry, new and used books on a variety of subjects including subjects pertaining to the southwest, cookbooks, craft books etc. Gemstones, beads, and jewelry supplies are one of the things we are known for, specializing in American Turquoise, gem quality lapis lazuli, and the various blue-green Copper minerals. We sell many local rock specimans. We also sell unique gifts from the far corners of the world, on any given day you might see something like this in our store, Amethyst rock specimans from Brazil, Thai puppets, sarongs from Indonesia, Silk clothes from India, Handmade paper products from Tibet, Jade Buddhas from China, Pueblo pottery, Navajo or Persian Oriental rugs, masks from Guatamala, rock Sculptures from Africa, and wooden jewelry from the phillipines. The store is owned by husband and wife team Greg Jaekel and April Redbird.
April is the jewelry designer, and Greg, the saleman and store manager. If you are lucky you will come on one of the days that Greg is on the sidewalk playing his amazing brand of street blues on his harmonica. We think our store is just too unique to miss! |
