We specialize in heritage crafts and use of regional agricultural products in our jams and jellies and in some of our crafts such as our cornhusk dolls, apple dolls and wreaths.
In addition to the store, the group offers weekly workshops and classes to teach crafts and business management to those in the area who are unemployed, under-employed or wishing to supplement their income.
The store, which opened in 2007, is a project of Far West Mountain Eceonomic Partners, a non-profit organization serving the far westernmost North Carolina counties of Cherokee, Clay, Graham and Swain along with the Cherokee Reservation known as the Qualla Boundary. Far West began in 2002 as a part of the Prograqm for the Rural Carolina sponsored by the Duke Endowment. |
