Sports Plus Cafe was established in July of 1997. Our grand opening was celebrated along with Alex Rodriguez's birthday. We are visited by patrons from the tri-state area as well as the community. NY Daily News rated us as one of the top 10 hot spots to watch the Super Bowl several years ago. Media networks commonly simulcast news reporting from our location during major sporting events. NY Post has included us in their choices of top sports bars in NYC as recent as February of 2008. High profile figure pass by occasionally unannounced.
Our food has been approved by some of the most avid travelers. The food has been described as representing the authenticity of the likes of grandma's cooking. Our concentration is on spanish cuisine and our ingredients used in our sauces are prepared by our Master Chef who uses wines which distinguishes us from our competitors. Our prices are very reasonable and our portions are satisfying. Our decor is comprised of sports memorabilia, 7 crystal clear large HD plasmas (1 is 63", 4 are 42" and 2 are 32"), great audio acoustics with a professional club system, 18 foot ceilings, 10 white linen candle lit tables, colonial maple colored wood chairs with winter green vinyl to match our bar stools, open visual into the kitchen where you see occasional flamed steaks or wine sauce en trees being prepared and a panoramic view through our full length glass windows which make up our sidewalk cafe area where diners dine. Stage lighting over the long 25ft bar to portray the bartenders as the rock stars. Sports Plus Cafe has been hosting comedy shows for the past 6 years hosted by comedians who perform on Comedy Central, Bet, Carolines and other networks. Comedy is held once a month which is posted on our myspacesportspluscafe page for upcoming shows.
Our nightlife converts into a club after party at midnight with NYC's top DJ's. The Sports Plus Cafe could be rented to conduct corporate presentations with our advanced technology to facilitate such need. Those who have hosted fund raisers and political campaigns have experienced success when co-promoting with Sports Plus Cafe. Our future venue is a sports radio talk show to be simulcast live from our location. Radio personality, Rich Mancuso who worked at WFAN AM will be the host and it will begin Tuesday Feb. 25th 5PM-7PM on a broadcast network to be named soon. The name of the show will be Sports Plus Talk with Rich Mancuso. In addition, an internet radio music format will begin right after the sports talk show. This broadcast can be found on francyx.com every Tuesday 7PM-10PM. Entering our 11th year, management remains humble, simple family people who understand the importance of monitoring product and staff in order to provide the best in hospitality service.
