Community Colleges of Spokane Institute for Extended Learning Newport Center offers accredited college classes, adult basic education, GED, and non-credit classes to rural residents in Northeast Washington and adjacent Bonner County Idaho. College courses leading to degrees transferring to four year colleges and universities are available at the Center and as hybrid classes. One year certificate and two year associate degrees in Professional Technical programs for individuals looking to improve employability or change occupations are also available. Need to finish high school before you can start college? Take GED classes and complete your GED tests at your own pace. Just looking to learn or update computer skills, learn about digital photography, water color painting, prospecting, gardening, or some other special interest? These are just a few of the choices at the Newport Center. Last,but certainly not least, if you have a soon-to-be junior or senior in your household you can save some future college costs by taking advantage of the Running Start Program. Running Start gives high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn transferable or professional technical college credits while completing high school. With the cost of a college education today that can mean a real savings in the future.
