Ronno L. Cooke makes furniture the old fashioned way, using mortise and tenon, doweled and dovetailed joints, for strong durable pieces. He blends woods together in interesting contrasts, using jatoba, mahoghany, oak, teak, black walnut and other beautiful woods. Hand rubbed finishes, attention to detail and one of a kind pieces are what distinguishes his work from mass produced furniture. He crafts his furniture in his shop in the South Mountains of North Carolina, building one piece at a time. His work has been featured by the Burke Arts Council, and in finer art and craft galleries including Seven Sisters in Black Mountain, Mountain Made at the Grove Arcade in Asheville, and Hand in Hand Gallery in Flat Rock, NC. Ronno's handiwork has found homes all over, from little cabins in the Appalachians to the private island homes of recording industry superstars. His work can be purchased through the galleries listed on his website, and he is also available for select commissioned work. Ronno can also give demonstrations of his craft and techniques, and talks on old fashioned joinery and building.
