Durham School Services isn't just another bus company. There is a culture that permeates everything we do and how we do business. Our efforts are concentrated among those school districts that view their transportation contract as a partnership. And we know our employees are the key to our future, so we give them every opportunity to develop and utilize their strengths.
You can really tell the difference if you visit a Durham School Services Customer Service Center. You'll see how employees interact with one another, depend on each other as a team, and respect the experience each has to offer.
You'll see smiles and laughter, easygoing attitudes, and the strongest desire to care for your students—"their kids"—as if they were their own.
This dedication can be seen in the way drivers give their time to the children, both as a bus driver and as a community volunteer…or by those selfless individuals who care for the special education children they serve year after year...or by the thousands of former school district employees who now work for Durham and tell us how much more they enjoy their jobs.
You'll see thorough attention to detail in every aspect of the job, from drivers who check the buses over just once more before beginning their routes to dispatchers who must make route adjustments at a moment's notice.
Safety...quality...teamwork...partnerships. You've heard all these words before. Over the years, we've demonstrated to our customers that, to us, those aren't just words—they're the Durham difference.
Durham School Services can trace its history back to 1917, to a three-bus company started in the San Gabriel Valley of California. In its early years, Durham specialized in special education transportation. This specialization has helped to nurture a unique commitment to quality service that is still maintained throughout our company today.
Today, the company operates more than 12,500 school buses and serves more than 300 school districts in 29 states across the country. Our corporate office, located in Downers Grove,Illinois, houses the administrative and support functions for the company, and our local customer service centers (CSCs) are supported by regional operations teams located throughout the country. As a national company, we have a wealth of resources available to our customers, and still maintain an unmatched level of local support.
Durham School Services has a strong record of success and decades of experience in pupil transportation. With the support of National Express Group, a global leader in transportation, we are confident we can provide exceptional service to your district. We will remain continually focused on delivering our service promise: Getting kids to school safe, on time, and ready to learn . . . every day.
At Durham School Services, everything we do is graded on the performance of our front line—our drivers. We heavily invest resources in driver recruitment and training because good drivers are so hard to find.
We expect all drivers to meet stringent selection criteria, which includes drug testing, background checks and an extensive interview process. In fact, only one in five candidates is qualified to drive a Durham School Services route.
The search for the right drivers is paramount to our success because the best drivers = the safest kids.
We are always looking for qualified drivers. If you think you’ve got what it takes and are interested in the benefits listed below, contact us today!
