| Description: | The Spur Stop is more than a convenience store. It has the usual snack foods, tobacco products, lottery tickets, emergency supplies, and beer and wine coolers that appeal to the nearby students and staff of the University of South Carolina. The name Spur Stop is a nod the USC Gamecocks mascot. Where the Spur Stop goes above and beyond the call of duty is its outdoor deck, which plays host to the first--and currently only--hookah bar in the Columbia metro area (Columbia has outlawed indoor smoking). On Monday and Tuesday nights feature bellydancing and Turkish fortune-telling with Turkish coffee. On Wednesday nights they have an open mic poetry slam. On Saturday nights there is alive DJ (mostly Techno and Hard House). The other nights one can find plenty of interesting conversation out on the deck. The Spur Stop stays open late which is great for those students up studying or partying. | |
