| Description: | great business opportunity! Sunrise Donuts had its humble beginning April 1980. My partner and I started the business and renovated a small space in the downtown mainstreet of Idaho Springs. Our business proved so successful we built the Sunrise building in 1984 on the east side of town (A&W was across the street Colorado Blvd/ Hwy 40) and it has been a continuous donut shop until July 2006. We ran the donut shop bakery for 14 years. We sold the business in 1994 and have been landlords to new owners operating Sunrise Donuts. The new owners broadened the wholesale market with deliveries to locations on Interstate 70 and to the gaming communities of Blackhawk and Central City. Sunrise Donuts kicked off into high gear with features on the Food Channel, airline flight magazine, and even in the Wall Street Journal writing about the racks of coffee mugs that hung on the walls, each mug belonging to its own owner. At last count they numbered around 150. The building is now completely renovated with two new bathrooms, FRP panels in the kitchen area, refinished maple countertop, new carpet in the lobby seating area, new paint, paved parking. This building is ready for many uses. But we still have rehung the mug racks(with all the mugs) in the hope someone will take advantage of this location | |
