| Description: |
Hello World Language Center is language and culture resource center based in Manhattan. The concept was created sixteen years ago by its founder, Yetta G. Kurland, who, with the help of other scholars, developed a philosophy and method for teaching English as a second language in South Korea.
The concept was brought to the United States in 1993, and the main offices were established in New York City
The program expanded so that today we have nine programmed languages and we teach every spoken and written language on an individual or small group basis.
However, Hello World Language Center goes beyond this instruction to the root of any language: culture. The notion of multi-culturalism, and celebration of diversity of culture is central to the work we do in language training, and we are known for the supportive programming we do in the field.
We provide a variety of events and programming related to culture and language learning, and work with a Board of Advisors consisting of leaders in the field to help do so.
We’ve recently moved to a beautiful brand new facility fully equipped with a library, computer facilities, additional classrooms which adds to our open and supportive environment.
Young and dynamic, Hello World is not afraid to take on difficult questions of language, culture and diversity.
In doing so, we have examined many concepts and theories in the field of language teaching and put this knowledge to use in our internationally renowned Teacher Certification Program which trains qualified applicants to become language instructors.
We introduce cutting edge language learning methodology and consider complex ideas around culture. No matter what your background, scholarship, work or profession, chances are these issues have tremendous impact on you. We invite you to learn more about us, and to be a part of this on-going dialogue.
