The Bayou is located in the center of the Village Shops, which is one block from the stoplight in Banner Elk. Deck dining, both covered and open, is available during good weather or warm up next to one of the two fireplaces in the dining room during cold weather. Children's menu is available offering shrimp, chicken tenders, hot dogs, grilled cheese, hamburgers and cheeseburgers. Families with children are welcome, the kids can play on the lawn just off of the deck or play pool, national free trivia or video games inside the restaurant. Take a tour of the attached Bayou General Store after your meal for Texas and Louisiana food items, t-shirts, locally produced items and more. Favorite food items in the restaurant include Louisiana Shrimp Gumbo, Texas-style Smoked Beef Brisket BBQ, Po' Boys, Chicken-Fried Steak, Design Your Own Salads, Fried Green Tomatoes and the always popular 1/2 pound hand-crafted char-grilled hamburgers.
