- Markham Ferry Apostolic Church is a books of Acts Church. This is where it all starts! Acts 2 is the foundation for the Pentecostal church. It was marked by an outpouring of the Spirit that totally filled and transformed those 1st Century saints. As we shall see the Spirit worked in a very evident way in their lives but it was not until the persecution of those saints in Acts 7 that the message begins to spread. These people are much like we are in that they had a tendency to get comfortable with their relationship with God and simply go through the motions of fellowship (Acts 2:42) and having “good church.” In Acts 1, the mission is discovered. Then there is a period of waiting, equipping, and tarrying. In Acts 2, the birth of the Church takes place. Then there is a time of infilling, empowering and finally going out to the world. It is the only plan that God has to accomplish His purpose in the earth. While there are some who put the entire burden of the success of the Church on men, God still has His hand in the midst of the direction of the Church. He can motivate the Church to move with persecution. He can equip the Church to combat false doctrine and human ideas with Scripture. He can inspire the Church through its work in prayer, consecration, and commitment.
