In 1922, Kentucky's first radio broadcasting station, WHAS, was established. By 2003, there were 73 major radio stations, 73 AM and 58 FM. That year there were 29 major television broadcasting stations, with 17 public broadcasting stations. There were 576,850 television households, 65% of which received cable. By 2000, Kentucky had registered a total of 39,264 Internet domain names.
