The Consumer Protection Section, Department of Justice, investigates and mediates consumer complaints, takes action against companies allegedly engaging in unfair business practices, distributes consumer publications, and registers multi-level marketing, telemarketing, and charitable organizations. It does not handle the areas of insurance, banking, or utilities.
