Description: The 56-foot Heceta Head Lighthouse was commissioned in 1894 and rests on a rocky headland 205 feet above the ocean. Adjacent to the lighthouse is the Heceta House, the original light keeper’s house, which was built in 1893 and now is operated as a bed-and-breakfast. The lighthouse can be accessed from the Heceta Head Lighthouse State Viewpoint parking area located 12 miles north of Florence on US 101 on the west side of the highway. There is a $3 day use fee at this site. You can purchase a permit from the automated pay station in the parking area. You can tour the lighthouse daily March through October from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
