I landed my F-100C on this airfield during that time and as I remember, it was shorter than 6,095 feet. I could be wrong.
I had a flight of (3) F-100's, flying in the Fort Randall Reservoir "Military Operating Area" and during one of our fuel checks (fuel remaining) I noticed I only had a 300 or 400 hundred pounds of useable fuel left. Immediately headed for Sioux City Air Base (home of the 174th TFS) however as I was passing 20 miles south of Yankton, I only had 100 pounds of fuel left. That short piece of R/W was my only choice. I turned to the north, with the throttle in idle, and landed straight in, on R/W 31.
Maintenance personnel from the Guard unit drove up to Yankton, corrected the problem and I departed for Sioux City later that afternoon.
This occurred on Saturday, March 21, 1970.
