Silver Springs Airport might have previously been used as:
1. A U.S. Navy (B-24) Landing Stip in WWII
2. The site of the YO-3A Acoustic Tests in 1969-1970

Otherwise, a nearby site was used.
I have a few photos of our (Lockheed) operation there and an accident report (unplanned landing).

I see (on another website) that a museum is planned for the airport. I'd be pleased to add my material to it, if wanted. Note: The YO-3A was the first full-scale-development aircraft to survive a hostile environment by means of "low observables" - now called "stealth".

In 1955 a wood office used during WW II was still at the Silver Springs runway. It had a desk and a telephone still in it, phone not hooked up.
