Crest Theater

The Crest Theater, located at 1013 K Street, Sacramento, CA, is a multi-purpose theatre that shows a variety of classic, recent and independent films. This venue is the site of several annual events including: The Trash Film Orgy, Sacramento Film and Music Festival and others

In addition to the annual film festivals, the Crest hosts hundreds of other events every year including concerts, comedy shows, community events, as well as private events such as: receptions, weddings, fundraisers and corporate functions.

The theater originally opened in 1912 as the Empress Theatre, which featured vaudeville performances. Later renamed the Hippodrome, the site was converted into a motion picture theater in the 1920's, and in 1946, the interior was completely remodeled giving birth to the current Crest Theater. The theater was closed down for a period of time and several attempts were made to re-open the location. Finally in 1986, it was re-opened. In 1995, the Crest received funds to restore the cinema to its 1940's appearance.
