At the time, the hotel catered to business travelers, as well as those who traveled to Santa Barbara for the benefits of the healing waters of the spas. The hotel underwent renovations and re-launched in 2005. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has earned a Santa Barbara Beautiful award.
