Jurassic

Also known as the Museum of Jurassic Technology, this tourist attraction, which is four blocks from the historic Palms district of L.A., promotes the education of individuals about the lower Jurassic and contains unique relics of natural history and an eclectic look at the history of technology and science.

Established in 1987 by a husband and wife team, Jurassic displays over 30 unique permanent exhibitions and includes both artistic and scientific displays that "evoke the cabinet of curiosities" that were common to 18th century predecessors to modern natural history museums.

The Museum of Jurassic Technology attracts about 18,000 visitors per year and opens for visitors on Thursdays from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and weekends from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Tula Tea Room and Borzoi Kabinet Theater show films hourly and serve complimentary tea and cookies.

Located at 9341 Venice Boulevard in Culver City, the museum is located about 20 minutes northeast of Los Angeles International Airport and just off the Santa Monica Freeway. The museum lies within walking distance of the Bhagavad Gita Museum, Media Park, and STAR ECO Station. Other tourist sites within a short driving distance include Bergmont Station, Museum of Flying, Black Inventions Museum, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
