KidZone Museum

Serving the alpine town of Truckee, CA, and the Tahoe area, KidZone Museum is designed for families with children up to the age of seven. The museum includes both temporary, featured exhibits and several permanent exhibits.

Located in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountains on Donner Pass Road, KidZone was established in 1992 by a local group of individuals desiring to establish an indoor play area for children, particularly during the snowy, winter months.

KidZone is generally an indoor establishment that includes a Baby Zone for children eighteen months and younger, as well as play areas for toddlers and older children. The Creative Center offers painting, sculpting, drawing, and other art activities. Operating hours run generally from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sundays. Visitors should check with the museum for specific winter or summer times. Food is not available for purchase on site, but several restaurants are located nearby.

KidZone is located about 40 minutes by car southwest of Reno, NV and 15 miles north of Lake Tahoe. Visitors can enjoy other nearby tourist attractions: Donner Memorial State Park, Emigrant Trail Museum, Donner Lake, and historic downtown Truckee.
