March Field Air Museum

The March Field Museum has celebrated and educated the history of the air force in the Riverside, California area. There are more than 70 historic aircraft on display and the exhibits are both inside and out. Many of the plans on display have historic significance aside from just flying in battle. The Lockeed SR-71 Blackbird worked as a strategic bomber and fighter during the Cold War Period. A number of World War II period plans are display too, like the B-17 Flying Fortress and the B-25 Mitchell Bomber. The museum is located next to the March Air Reserve Base in Riverside. The main part of the building was built in 1993, but the museum has a longer history, having been located in another building prior to 1993. There is a theatre onsite that shows films about the history of military aviation and the history of the museum. Visitors to the museum can enjoy a visit to the gift shop where they will find a great variety of model military planes, military patches, books, jackets, shirts, and military prints. The items are a great way to take home your own personal piece of military history and the museum. Group tours are available and guests visiting the museum on the weekend can enjoy lunch from the food cart that sets up outside and serves hotdogs and hamburgers.
