Santa Barbara Certified Farmers Market

Farmer's Markets in California are highly popular, especially for organic foods. Santa Barbara Certified Farmers Market is one of the well known markets. It was started in 1983 by a nonprofit corporation in order to provide California farmers with a landmark location for their agricultural goods. The market has 130 members and thousands of visitors each year. Throughout the entire year there are weekly events held in order to enhance the community life of Santa Barbara, as well as to offer produce. Rain or shine the market will open for shopping, socialization, and certified organic products.

The market is located in four places based on the day of the week. Saturday and Tuesday the market is downtown Santa Barbara. Sunday and Thursday it is in Goleta. Wednesday the market is at Harding. Another market location on Friday is at Montecito. Local farmers who attend include Beylik, Calimoya, Coleman, Creekside Apple, Fair Hills, Fairview, Friends Ranches, Fusano Olive Company, Flying Disc Ranch, LaRonna Jojoba Oil, and Windrose Farm.

The market is open year round with different seasonal goods. Cheese, asparagus, spinach, and other items can be found at the farmer's market in Santa Barbara.
