Stovepipe Wells Village

Roughly 24 miles northwest of Furnace Creek, Stovepipe Wells Village makes an excellent base camp for exploring Death Valley. It provides lodgings and provisions under the auspices of Xanterra Parks & Resorts, the primary authorized concessioner within the National Park.

Standard, Deluxe, and Patio guest rooms with king beds or twin doubles are available, as well as 14 full service hook-ups sites for recreational vehicles and a campground for up to 190 tents. Stovepipe Wells Village has a heated swimming pool, recently resurfaced and refurbished with new decking and an upgraded wrought iron fence enclosure. Although there is no cell phone service in the area and guest rooms do not have telephones, free wireless Internet access is provided in the Guest Lounge area.

Other facilities at Stovepipe Wells Village include a restaurant, saloon, shaded picnic area, gift shop, and general store. Items for sale at the latter range from gas and food items to T-shirts, books, maps, toiletries, caps, and bottled water. Nearby recreational activities include golf, tennis, rock climbing, backpacking, camping, hiking, and horseback riding.

Located on Highway 190, Stovepipe Wells Village is open year-round and pets are welcome. For those arriving by private plane, there is a 3,040-foot by 70-foot concrete airstrip with a service station adjacent to the general store.
