The Grenada

The Grenada is an older theater of Santa Barbara, California. For the last ten years the Santa Barbara Center for the Performing Arts nonprofit organization has worked to restore the old theater to its original splendor. Sachs Morgan, out of New York, and The Pantages in Los Angeles have both contributed to the restoration project. The renovations have included 13,000 square feet of additional space for both performers and audiences to be comfortable. The reconfigured theater now seats up to 1,550 patrons. They worked to restore the lounge and balcony with additional sections to ensure maximum comfort.

Throughout all of the restorations, the nonprofit organizations have managed to keep the historic charm that makes the Grenada Theater well known among theater patrons. A few of their recent shows have included Miracle on 34th Street, New Year's Eve Pops Concert, and Nutcracker. In 2011, the theater will offer performances such as SB Symphony Appalachian Spring, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, A Chorus Line, Maria Del Rey, and Kids Helping Kids. Each month brings about new and exciting performances with traditional plays. They also have new plays and performances such as acrobats. Tickets are based on the type of performance and seating chosen.
