Virg's Landing

Virg's Fish'n in Morro Bay was founded in 1954 By Virgil Moores, with one fishing boat, the "Lady Jane" and a live bait boat, the "Uranus". Virg came up to Morro Bay from Newport Beach bringing the concept of "live bait" fishing with him. There were several other fishing landings in Morro Bay at the time and competition was fierce, but through perseverance and dedication accompanied with a little luck and hard work Virg's Landing was born and thrives successfully today.

Today, even though recreational fishing has been severely regulated, fishing on the Central Coast continues to flourish. In 2009 the landing caught more Lingcod in Estero Bay waters than in many years before. There is an abundance of all species of fish in the area that has made sport fishing a popular and great way to spend the weekend or days.

Virg's Landing still remains as an icon to sport fishing in Morro Bay and a link from the past to the ever changing future. The team at the landing is dedicated to creating a fun and exciting environment for people to enjoy the sport of fishing. Special tournaments and whale watching excursions are available at the landing.
