Wild Things

Wild Things is an animal rescue and park in Salinas, California. The animals at the park are trained by professionals and are treated humanely. The collection of animals includes wild, exotic and domestic birds and various animals, many of which are used in television, film and live production. Wild Things also uses its collection of animals to educate the public. The sanctuary is the perfect place for a family outing. Many of the animals living at the sanctuary were adopted because of the less than perfect conditions in which they lived. Some of them had been neglected or abused and the sanctuary nursed them back to health. Wild Things has been at its current location since about 2005, but they, along with the Vision Quest Equestrian Center and the Oxton Kennels and Pet Resort, have been in business for more than three decades. Many of the animal trainers and handlers live onsite so they are close to the animals at all times. The facility offers maximum security and an ideal geographic climate for the animals. Educational programs run by Wild Things include My Pet Tiger, My Back Yard, Around the World and Discover the Rainforest. Schools and groups can also request special shows that include lessons on how the animals are trained and prepared for their roles in front of the camera. Shows vary in length from one to one and a half hours.
