Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Case's Marquee Talk: Just A Little 'Rithmetic

Posted 11-29-2023 at 08:52 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

There's just something about different folks out in the hither and thether who put marquees up in front of their restaurants or stores and make a few quips. Those are things people will remember, even if they have just a few scant seconds to look.

And I've got a dandy for you right here. It was spotted at El Arroyo's in Austin, and our sage wonders gave advice to those who add and subtract on a regular basis:

"Dear Math, grow up and solve your own problems...

Tulsa International Airport's New Control Tower Finally Gets A Drawing

Posted 11-26-2023 at 05:15 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

We've waited, and now, we have something to look at. Tulsans and Oklahomans have spent the last couple of years hotly anticipating a brand-new control tower at Tulsa International Airport.

Officials are expecting to break ground on it in a few months and will take two years to complete. For years, they've needed desperately to replace an aging (and sometimes hazardous) 60-plus-year-old facility that has outlived its usefulness. Here's a vid link below:

Baseball Needs To Give Up On Retiring Uniform Numbers

Posted 11-25-2023 at 08:30 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)
Updated 11-29-2023 at 08:35 PM by case44

How far does Major League Baseball need to go before it realizes what a mistake it's made in allowing teams to retire uniform numbers? What happens when teams run out of numbers for players?

Look, I am all for paying tribute in appreciation for the great players who have been part of the game in the past. There just needs to be something better than retiring numbers from the uniforms. We need to give every player the opportunity and the privilege of wearing...

Case's Thought For The Day: Words From A Genius

Posted 11-23-2023 at 06:45 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Hope everyone has had a great Thanksgiving.

Here comes our Thought For The Day, and it presents itself courtesy of one of the world's great geniuses, Albert Einstein. And his view of life is summed up well with the following:

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe."

Geniuses? Genii? I'll have to find it....

Democrats Are Just Simply Rotten People

Our government is the worst in this world. And I have no problems expressing that to you.

With the notable exception of the few America-loving Patriots who really are fighting for us every waking moment, the rest of our United States government basically stinks to high, holy Hell. Joe Biden* has put together the lowest forms of life possible in a cabinet that ranks the all-time worst in American history. None of these people are qualified or cut out for the positions which...
