I am thinking of my father....The Rev. Albert Quillen Perry. He was cut from a different cloth...…a man who truly lived his life based on principles and personal values. He was wise, tenacious, and inspirational. He could be raucous...he loved story telling and singing around the campfire ("Oh Mary Don't You Weep") He could also rock favorite hymns from the pulpit...."Forward Through The Ages"

Sweet girl, in response to the question you asked with your eyes, "yes, you were always cute enough for us".... your eyes could melt thru any strangeness and find the place where love resides. For a girl with only three legs and far far from your Pickett County home......you sure found your way into our family's heart.

Black Walnuts

This morning I am baking a "Pumpkin/Black Walnut Tea Bread". I seasoned it with cinnamon and nutmeg and ginger. Soon my kitchen will be fragrant with fall.

I havent had black walnuts in years. When I was a kid, I used to go out with my father and gather wild black walnuts....trying to beat the squirrels to the favorite trees. This was in North Hatley Quebec and also in Ohio.

Black Walnuts are tedious and difficult to open and...
