Going to church, reading the bible, listening to Christian music will not advance your spiritual life. These activities may give you more understanding but until you are ready to lay down your life and take up your cross this leads nowhere.

What I am talking about is the sacrifice of self to advance the cause of Jesus Christ in the world. There is a destiny that God had for each of us that only we can personally discover. We can discover it only by detaching from the world and making ourselves available for the Holy Spirit. By detaching from the world--now you have time--the commodity that most Christians are not willing to give.

Jesus said, "Self-help is not help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, to finding yourself, your true self. (Matthew 16:25)

"God has planted eternity in the human heart." (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

"Anyone who lets himself be distracted from the work I plan for him is not fit for the Kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62)

"The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me." (Acts 20:24)

"We have been sent to speak for Christ." (2 Corinthians 5:20)

"We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)

Perseverance For The Impossible

Posted 11-05-2021 at 10:43 PM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

As believers we are rooted and grounded in His magnificent love (see Ephesians 3:17). Because we are established in His love, we have a peace that passes all ordinary understanding. And we have courage, the depth of which is confidence in the Lord. We cannot trust in our own reasoning. Instead, today we declare that we will, “Trust in the LORD with all [our] heart and lean not on [our] own understanding; in all [our] ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct [our] paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

When the patriarch Jacob ran away from his enraged brother, he went to sleep on a stone pillow in a land that seemed desolate. But after dreaming about heaven and angels, he awoke and exclaimed: “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.”

His discovery was not only for Jacob but for all who seek Him. Whenever you feel distant from Him, say: “Surely the Lord is in this place!” Then, ask Him to give you awareness of His Presence.

Bringing Forth In The Given Hour

Posted 11-05-2021 at 12:13 AM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

Travail connotes that we are at a narrow transition. The transitional place is a place of "crossing over." Travail means that we are in a "distressed" moment.

Travail is a specific type of prayer that births (Isaiah 66:7-9), as well as wars (Isaiah 42:12-14). When a person enters a time period or season of travail (birthing and/or warring), they will experience it as a heaviness, a weight, a BURDEN, a deep penetrating concern, or an uneasiness over a situation...
