Here we are, Bigun, Ritz, and Me. 8)

From the Inside, Looking Out

Posted 07-13-2012 at 09:47 PM by LookinForMayberry

I forget that I am now a middle-aged woman, as I walk through my day. My legs are still strong as I walk, I still feel vital and sound.

Then I catch a glimpse of my reflection in a window, and I am startled to see this pudgy, slightly disheveled woman with ill-fitting clothes, saggy skin, and softened features.

As I glance around, I realize I am the only one that has noticed, and others see only the me they've ever seen. That other me was so long ago, they've...

Tears of 10,000 Years

Posted 06-30-2012 at 07:53 AM by LookinForMayberry

Yesterday as I was making the second (successful) attempt to give Bigun his walk WITHOUT getting soaked with rain, I was suddenly overpowered by sadness. Not just melancholy, but a sadness that closed my throat, robbed my breath, and tears just started falling. Immediately, my mind replayed my mother's voice: "Just stop it, Deborah, that's ENOUGH," and by reaction I started to obey. Now that I am "Teachable"

Posted 06-22-2012 at 08:14 AM by LookinForMayberry

We feel more at home with our own bodies and minds and more at home in the world. As our kindness for ourselves grows, so does our kindness for other people."

It is a fairly common thing for my friends (who are members of a very small group) to tell me that...

Rolling Along, Singing a Song, My Oh My 8)

Posted 06-19-2012 at 11:24 AM by LookinForMayberry

DH is cutting the hole in the sunroom wall to install the doggy door, possible now because the contractor finished our back staircase to the yard Sunday. We emptied out the lower level of our split level over the weekend, DH taking the last trip to Goodwill on Saturday afternoon. Yesterday he started prepping the walls for re-painting, and selected the carpet.

Monday, we found a stacked washer/dryer to fit into our hall linen closet. I made room for the linens, laundry, and dog towels...
