Bigun's Out of Jail and Free -- Just Like Me! 8)

Posted 03-15-2012 at 08:12 PM by LookinForMayberry

I was so absorbed in my little pity party yesterday that I completely forgot to report that we saw the Vet in the early afternoon, and Bigun's limp is NOT due to a spinal injury, damage nerve, or bad hip. He has a very, very mild case of a loose patella on his left knee. No treatment required, and free to exercise as much as he likes (that we are up to doing).

He's Free, Free, Free!

And, I am happy to report, so am I. I went to bed last night bummed, and woke this morning...

Just Got the News Today, Oh Boy

Posted 03-14-2012 at 04:31 PM by LookinForMayberry

The party's over. I received my email this morning to let me know that I was being laid off. I cannot say I am sorry. My boss had developed into quite the micro-manager since he started this company, surprisingly so because he seems to have lost his ability to communicate clearly about his expectations or objectives.

So, I've bookmarked the link to the unemployment claims office, and sent my resume off to all my contacts. I am hoping to get my office emptied of my personal belongings...

February Snow in Western Washington

Posted 02-29-2012 at 10:08 AM by LookinForMayberry

A few weeks ago we were in the mid 50s and sunny and I was sure it would soon be time to get the rack on the car and get the kayak off the shelf. I love the time on the water, but hate the cold. Still, a warm spring day... hard to beat.

Then it dropped back to the 40s, and well -- it's the norm for the region, so I just figured I can be patient.

But today is the third day we've had snow in the past week. Granted today's is just flurries, but they say we might get up...

The Bridge Over

Posted 02-26-2012 at 12:34 PM by LookinForMayberry

This morning, I watched BRIDGE OVER THE WADI, by Barak Heymann and Tomer Heymann on Hulu. It was originally aired in May '08 on PBS.

I was encouraged by the parents and kids courage to reach across the hatreds that ran between their religions, politics, and cultures. They faced REAL problems, not those "cooked up" by their political and commercial interests (as ours), but for their very survival.

And four years later, they prevail. (I had to check, because...

Ode to Parents of Sick Children Everywhere

Posted 02-26-2012 at 06:50 AM by LookinForMayberry

This isn't for those whose small children are down with their illness, but for those whose children are sick and don't know it yet. The ones you are told to keep quiet -- especially those whose children are the ones that are energetic. (Is that all of you?)

I've heard from older (wiser) people that you cannot escape life's lessons because life has a way of finding out what you've avoided. I avoided parenthood -- pets are so much easier, right?

Well, maybe not. ...
