A (Probably Unwelcome) Word on Gay Rights, et al

Posted 10-04-2009 at 05:06 AM by LookinForMayberry

Never one to wish to be criticized, I am easily enticed to be critical, so I do understand the impulse. Having struggled with my faith in God for decades (HE finally taught me the error of my ways), I also understand the zeal of a convert.

Still, I have to say it:

No one, not me, not ANY ONE, has the right to legislate over the hearts, nor beds, of others. I have had the fortunate path that has led me to met a number of persons, gay and lesbian. While I don't share their...

A truly GREAT Vet

Posted 10-03-2009 at 05:46 AM by LookinForMayberry

Bigun visited yet another vet clinic, yesterday. This time, he met Dr. Lisa Nordquist, at the Grand Avenue Vet Clinic, probably the best we've met, so far.

She checked out our little guy, and agreed with the medications prescribed by the vet in Escanaba, for worms, but added one more treatment to the mix -- Albon, pre-loaded syringes for each of seven days. She explained that loose stools were not usually indicated with worms, and she found an unusual distribution of bacterial in his...

Brrrrwillikers, it's COLD

Posted 10-03-2009 at 05:21 AM by LookinForMayberry

We LOVED Duluth. Great old buildings, beautiful bike/walking trails, and Lake Superior -- in addition to the St. Louis River. It's a dream come true, but baby it's COLD!

I never did get to put my kayak in the water. It's a recreational kayak, and would've been unsafe with the wind and waves we saw on Superior. (Yes, I could've paddled the river, or the bay, but I wanted to put into the Lake.) Too bad for me. Next time.

Every town we visit (with a clear desire to see...

Doctor's, Vet's, Tests, and Weather

Posted 10-02-2009 at 06:56 AM by LookinForMayberry

DH's still suffering some lingering "symptoms" from his flu in Fond du Lac, and we're hoping for test results today, thinking there's a treatment for relief if they could just discover the cause.

Bigun's "symptoms" are also returned, so it's opportune that he has a vet visit scheduled for this afternoon.

Meanwhile, our biopsies' results came back yesterday. Mine were negative. DH wasn't so lucky. Squamous cell carcinoma, AGAIN. Luckily, he was able...

Another Mayberry for THE List!

Posted 09-30-2009 at 01:37 PM by LookinForMayberry

We spent the morning walking the waterfront here in Duluth, and LOVED it. Such a great little town, and not so little.

As far as we could see at first blush, it has everything we want, and more, and the people seem very nice. I am a little concerned about how my legs will handle biking with these hills, but there are lots of bike routes.

I understand the winters are pretty severe, but maybe that's just an adjustment to the wardrobe.

Be sure and check out my...
