We Don't Want To Hear It (Reposted from 2013)

Posted 08-29-2016 at 07:42 AM by snowduck

Isaiah 30:10 -11 - They say to the seers, “See no more visions!” and to the prophets, “Give us no more visions of what is right! Tell us pleasant things, prophesy illusions. Leave this way get off this path, and stop confronting us with the Holy One of Israel!” - The old testament prophet (what we would call a preacher) Isaiah is talking about the Israelites of his day here. If this scripture wasn't so tragic I think it would be funny. Here were a bunch of people who should have known better, saying...

Lifeguard On Duty (Reposted from 2010)

Posted 07-06-2016 at 02:27 PM by snowduck

Psalm 69:1-2 - Save me, O God,for the waters have come up to my neck. I sink in the miry depths, where there is no foothold. I have come into the deep waters;the floods engulf me - As everyone knows, at a public swimming pool or beach a sign that reads LIFEGUARD ON DUTY means that someone is watching over the people at that place who might have entered an area of water beyond their abilities. The Curtain (Reposted from 2009)

Matthew 27:51 - And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. Mark 15:38 - And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. Luke 23:45 - And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. This is part of the description told about in the Bible of what happened at the temple in Jerusalem after Jesus died for our sins on the cross. The curtain hung in the temple used for worshiping God and divided the areas where "common people" could go and what...

Plain & Simple

Posted 05-06-2016 at 05:55 AM by snowduck

Romans 10:9 - If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. -
It is often said of things that simpler is better, and I don't think this scripture could get any simpler or better. It could be called the Gospel in a teaspoon. Many people will say "there must be more to it than that", but no. We should trust God's word instead of our own feelings that are naturally opposed to God. Even the simplest word

Thirsty? (Reposted from 2011)

Posted 03-31-2016 at 11:22 AM by snowduck

Revelation 22:17 - Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. Throughout the Bible God likens his saving word to water. Some examples are John 4:14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life." John 7:38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them." Revelation 7:17...
