work doesn't always feel like work

Have you ever noticed that when you're pitching in to help each other out, working together, that it's much more fun?

Today we helped a friend move, and I kept thinking, “This doesn’t feel like work. This is fun. I’m in such good company...” We got the job done quickly and our friend was glad he didn't have to make a million trips by himself.

Many of these same friends helped us out earlier when we needed a hand...

I was glad my young son pitched in too. He couldn’t carry very much, or things that were too heavy, but I’m glad he had the opportunity to help out, and that he had a good attitude about it.

When I was little I remember washing dishes with my mom. While she washed, one of us would dry, another put the dishes away. And someone else would clear and wipe off the table. More than once she tried to convey to us that when we all worked together, it got done faster, and was more enjoyable. And that's stuck with me. She did have a way of making work fun, and more than anything else I valued our conversations, the time we had to just talk to each other while we worked.

So, I was just thinking about mom today, and her words of wisdom, and how she was right about a lot of things...
