My Daily Life and Thoughts while in San Diego | List of Best Posts
This blog is where I express myself to the world or at least to those who might stop by to read what I post . Maybe God will use what I post (I am a Christian and this blog will have a most decidedly Christian bent to it) to good effect in the lives of my readers.

I may turn some of my posts into a book. I may cease blogging here altogether. Who knows. But for now..I am content to post away in this, my own little corner of the world.

Rather than reading through my now lengthy list of posts you may wish to read what I consider to be my very best posts or you can just read the posts that deal with a single subject category that might interest you.

Please know that I am open to any input on any topic I write about. If you have something to say about anything you see written here please....feel free to speak up in the form of leaving a comment or sending me a PM (private message).

And if you are in San Diego and wish to meet the one and only Carlos (that's me )...drop me a private message. I always enjoy meeting one of my readers!

Thanks.

Carlos

PRAISE GOD!!! I am receiving a $300 cash gift!

Posted 03-15-2010 at 10:00 PM by carlos123

This is just a quick note for those of you who have been following my life adventure for a while, especially lately.

The Lord laid it on the heart of the church to give me a $300 cash gift!

What is absolutely incredible about this is that I never, ever throughout this entire ordeal set out to make my housing and food needs known for the purpose of getting them met by anyone.

Not once did I open my mouth with the intention of trying to get my biggest needs met. Not once.

I did ask about the possibility of storing my two suitcases a few weeks ago but I felt liberty to do that in view of my growing relationship with church members as something that was not out of line with trusting God to meet my need for a place to store them.

This $300 will allow me to not only get a bus pass for the next two months but also to get a month to month gym membership which will allow me to take showers and use a clean bathroom and store my sleeping stuff in an overnight locker so that I can look presentable while trying to find work...which I will continue to try and find as my highest priority behind getting situated.

Talk about last minute for God's provision! It's nearly 9:00 pm. I would have gone to bed about 10:00 pm to get up and leave in the morning at 7:00 am.

Tomorrow night I start sleeping outdoors but with the bus pass money I will be able to head out of San Diego to find the abandoned campground that some other homeless persons are camping at and will be able to return to eat in San Diego every day.

Overall this is not a bad thing at all. By camping out I should be able to save money, pay back debts, and otherwise get back on my feet. If any of you are praying for me please pray that the Lord would help me find a job!

Carlos, if this job search does not work out,
are you open to moving north towards
    Carlsbad? Someone suggested a pastor
there, who MIGHT be willing to take on
a boarder.. I have to find out about that
possibility. This is only what someone
suggested to me and it isn't yet
confirmed. If the pastor is willing
to do this, he might pick you up.

Do not put any faith in this
as it is just a thought to
    act upon on my end.

Also, I don't know the job situation
in North County.. but can't be any
    worse than in San Diego.

Summertime...I very much truly appreciate you going to bat for me and all the other people you go to bat for. That's swell of you.

For sure I would consider that or any other option. No question.

I have given up on my rent for work deals and my making a living over the internet (for now) and just need a job. Any job (at least one I can physically handle). Until I can replace my laptop, pay back some debts, renew my passport, and otherwise get back on my feet again.

Carlsbad is kinda out of the way again though. I would pretty much be stuck there. Very limited bus service out there. Mind you that wouldn't be so bad if I could get a job there and live nearby and all.

Not sure how readily I could get a job in Carlsbad though. The problem would be that I would not be able to pay any rent at all until I find a job and that might take, even under the best of circumstances, a few weeks.

Seems like the best thing to do Summertime is to live in a tent in the abandoned campground I heard about, grab my camping stuff every day and put it in a gym locker, go find a fast food or other job, and just work.

By living in a campground I will be able to save all the money I would otherwise pay in rent. If I work this right I should get back on my feet in no time.

But absolutely Summertime I am open to any suggestions and if I can help a Pastor by paying rent to him that might not be so bad either in that my money would be going to help a fellow Christian.

The job situation in San Diego by the way is a lot better than it is in Carlsbad. Carlsbad is tiny by comparison. There are hundreds of places in or near San Diego that I can easily reach by bus to apply for work now that I will be able to get a bus pass. A bus pass is going to enable me to have a freedom and flexibility in looking for work and getting around that I have not had in a very long time.

Stay in touch with your church as they
may be able to help you out even
more, but need to be able to contact you.
I guess you have your laptop working
and will be using it for communicating
your blogs; maybe anyone needing to
contact you can use this message board.

    Hi Summertime.

The church I have been with has my email address...well...at least the Associate Pastor, Head Pastor, and a bunch of other folks do that I have been in regular email contact with.

I will continue to monitor any PM's, comments, etc. left here at city-data as well as my email every few days or more often if I can (you've already got my new email address at gmail.com Summertime).

I will be leaving to become homeless around noon today (sounds so ho hum like I am going out for tea or something LOL) so I won't be able to respond as readily to any further comments here after that.

Any further blogging I do will be done at my new blog locations. If anyone wants to know what those are just PM me.

I am a bit nervous but also excited as this new chapter of my life begins. I am about as prepared as I can be and am looking forward to seeing all that the Lord has in store for me among a multitude of people who are in need of His love and His Presence in their lives.

Thanks again for your help and concern Summertime. God bless you.

    Hi Carlos,

I hope your job search goes well, it's not easy. I think I have a job with another security company, but I'm not sure. I've already been to training, and my background check cleared. I just have to call them. What's your new blog address?

Good for you Sue! I hope that works out for you. What wonderful news! My new blog is not quite ready yet but it's located at hiswillmylife.wordpress.com I will be posting some more good stuff there about my second day of living the homeless lifestyle later today! I got a whole 4/5 hours of sleep last night. Compare to the one hour I got the day before that was pretty good!

Yesterday I was so tired and dragging all day that I actually asked someone if the trolley that I was thinking of taking was heading in the direction of Detroit! I had meant San Diego. THAT was funny. Due to being super tired I started laughing almost hysterically at my own foolish comment aftewards LOL.
