Sometimes My Heart Just Aches for All of Us

Posted 09-12-2012 at 01:58 PM by LookinForMayberry

This morning as I was waking up over my game of freecell, DH told me the news about our Libyan ambassador. I searched CD and found nothing yet said, but by the time I posted an entry there was already a thread with 37 other entries. Apparently we are just burning for another squabble in our lives, because the entries I read were all hostile.

So much hostility everywhere. Of Course I do not agree with the attack on our embassy. What I find so saddening is how we've made it yet one more reason to get ourselves up in arms, slinging abuses at one another, at peoples based on their categories, at anything.

So much hatred. So much frustration. So much of so much.

So sad.

People have such a marvelous capacity for good, for creativity, for love and we spend our efforts and energies in ways so harmful, so degrading, and so meaningless.

We cause so much suffering, retribution, and pain to others and to ourselves. Sadly, I don't think it will ever end.

The Dalai Lama once stated: "Practice your OWN religion." He knows, as I know, as many know -- that the principal message underlying every world religion is love and compassion. Anyone that hates is not serving their God, whether that be the God of the Jews, the Allah of the Muslims, the Christ of the Christians, or the Buddha. Those that choose to do harm to themselves and others by hatred and its manifestations is NOT doing the work of their Lord. That is the work of the Prince of Darkness, regardless of what they profess.

I pray to God that one day our eyes will be opened and we will see that underneath this veil of ignorance we are all One People, and there is no difference between us. There is enough love in the world for everyone to share in it. There is enough everything.

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."

"You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
