Thankful Thursday and 8 Days Until My Birthday

Posted 06-26-2014 at 02:57 PM by jessxwrites89

Happy Thursday, dear readers! Today has been a good day and I'm thankful for that. I am also feeling better, so that's even more of a plus! Today I went into work for a little bit and I'm thankful for the people I work with. They're really keeping their fingers crossed about a job in Michigan and being able to move in the fall after a summer job (hopefully!). I'm glad more people are starting to root for me. I saw a first grade teacher that has been teaching since I was in elementary school. I didn't have her as a teacher, but I did work with her when I was a kid and she remembers me. I saw her at the library today. She had a baby boy and we got talking. She asked me how I was doing and I told her I graduated college in December, I've been looking in Michigan. I told her about Write A House and she thought it sounded like such a great idea. She said I was brave for making the move myself and she knows I'll do great things. I also received this e-mail from someone on City-Data yesterday, which also put a smile on my face:

Today is throwback Thursday and although I don't have any pictures from my 15th birthday party on June 10, 2004 (I used to have parties three weeks before my actual birthday because people go away for Independence Day... it's tough being born on a holiday), I still have my gifts and card... so I took a picture of those.

My friends Brynn and Liz, which Liz is now living in Alaska and Brynn somewhere in upstate Pennsylvania, and I went to Dave and Buster's for a few hours to hang out. We played arcade games; actually, this was the last time I was in an arcade. Going to Dave and Buster's and coming back, I had pick of the CD that would play in mom's car. I chose a mixed CD that had blink-182, Twiztid, hard rock, and hip hop. When we got back, we opened gifts. I loved my gifts: Liz bought me the CKY CD (I had a huge crush on Jess Margera, the joke was if I married him we'd be Jess and Jess Margera, lol) and it came with a cat card. Brynn gave me a Johnny the Homicidal Maniac graphic novel. JTHM is my favorite and I love Jhonen Vasquez, who also created Invader Zim. We also had cake. It was a sleep over, so we watched movies, gossiped and played games. When Brynn and Liz left, I loved the party bags I gave them. Back in the day, I used to love making and giving party bags. I made them mixes tailored to what they liked to listen to, old fashioned candy, lavender baby shampoo and some of those plastic bracelets. It was really fun.
