Dear Google and Project Fi:

Posted 08-27-2017 at 02:28 PM by Blondebaerde

In your ongoing, somehow endearing quest to create either The Singularity(tm) or a perfect consumer-level VoIP and telecom hybrid solution: in the interim at least, provide a unified coms portal, either Chrome-based or as a separate app (former vastly preferred over the latter) for your Fi consumers. Let me suggest the following.

Before we're wiped out via AI Apocalypse, would it be too much to ask if you: 1) Provided a seamless, Chrome-based application for VoIP calls that integrates Google Contacts, Calendar, and every other major component of your ever-expanding ecosystem? 2) See, the primary VoIP solution, Hangouts, as currently configured is a relic from a simpler and far-dorkier time (aka c. 2007) when VoIP was a lark for hard-core nerds only on Google Voice. 3) But those of us paying money to you monthly for Fi, in 2017, prefer full systems integration so we don't need to dick around with passwords, usernames, authentications, and other bull**** to access our contacts and other VoIP features from one seamless interface. If, say, our phone handset were to die and we needed to contact Support pronto. 4) If a particular user is a Google Fi customer, it may follow s/he should have a (very) full featured, integrated ecosystem experience. At least rivaling that of, say, Comcast Cable.

Oh, PS: 5) I made a call to your support desk, finally, after kludging together a Hangouts instance w/various plugins on IE 11, on a secondary computer. See, my primary machine's Hangouts in Chrome killed the Microsoft array on several devices, but only when in-call. So, your competitors at-current appear to run your VoIP for paying customers better than you do.

Just saying: may wish to take steps. Your image is burnishing as we speak. This is exactly why Apple makes Google and Microsoft looks like monkeys at just about every turn, though I do continue to admire your ecosystem's openness and desire to challenge the Status Quo. I'll stick it out with you awhile longer, but fair warning: clean it up, next few years, or exit the business 'cause it's not for the faint of heart.

PPS: 6) you have my permission to use the above, verbatim, as a vision-level doc. Or, even as a User Story (or Epic) if using scrum/agile instead. Feel free to XXXX-out the word "bull****," though, as you see fit.
